Vietnamese students win special award at Korea International Youth Olympiad

Vietnamese students won both the gold medal and special award of the Korea International Youth Olympiad - KIYO 4i, which was held from August 7 to 9 in Seoul, the Republic of Korea.

They were honoured for their project on the application of nanotechnology in the fabrication of Zinc oxide particles to reduce Carbon Monoxide in mines.

The team’s five members, Nguyen Phuong Anh, Vu Chi Doanh, Dang Thang Binh, Vu Trung Dung, and Do Nhu Minh Khoi, are all students from the Hon Gai High School in Quang Ninh Province.

Organised by the World Women Inventors and Entrepreneurs Association, KIYO 4i promotes the spirit of four “I’s” – Idea, Invention, Innovation, Intellectual Property.

It aims to provide an important venue for youths to enhance their creativity in science and technology and gain worldly experiences.

This year’s event drew the participation of 192 teams from 10 countries around the world.
