Winners of Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Awards 2023 honoured

A ceremony was held in Hanoi on May 30 to honour the winners of the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Awards (VIFOTEC) and the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) Awards 2023.

The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang.

The annual the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Awards were launched by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations to honour the projects of great scientific, economic, and social values that have been being effectively applied in Vietnam, contributing to promoting the production of the businesses, improving productivity and quality, and reducing costs.

This year, a total of 47 projects won prizes at the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Awards, including four first prizes, ten second prizes, 16 third prizes, and 17 consolation prizes.

This year’s awards were presented to projects in six areas of mechanical automation (ten prizes); material technology (seven); information technology-electronics and telecommunications (four); biology for production and life (nine); technology in response to climate change environmental protection and rational use of resources (eight); and energy saving and new energy technology (nine).

In addition, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour also presented the certificate of “Creative Labour” to the authors of the projects that were awarded first, second, and third prizes.

Additionally, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee awarded certificates of merit to the winners of the first, second, and third prizes who are under the age of 35.

The WIPO presented awards to two outstanding projects developed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Xuan Nang, Prof. Dr. Tran Vinh Dieu, and colleagues — A&A Green Phoenix Group Joint Stock Company; and Hero of Labour Nguyen Quang Mau, Master Nguyen Duy Tan, Nguyen Van Thanh — Gom Dat Viet Export and Import Joint Stock Company.

The organising committee decided to reward five units and four individuals with outstanding achievements in promoting and popularising the Awards.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy PM Tran Luu Quang stressed that the award ceremony is a meaningful activity that contributes to strengthening the development of the country's science and technology while encouraging scientists to participate in creative research, thus promptly solving practical problems, serving economic and social development, and ensuring national defence and security.

The awards have gradually affirmed their prestige in the field of science and technology innovation and been highly appreciated by domestic scientists and international friends.
