Departing from Ha Noi Station, the ‘Ha Noi 5 Gates’ tourist train takes passengers to Tu Son Station (Bac Ninh Province) on a unique journey blending heritage and experience. Ha Noi’s new tourism product, the ‘Ha Noi 5 Gates’ tourist train has officially entered commercial operation.
The route, named “Thang Long–Kinh Bac: Echoes of a Thousand Years”, runs from Ha Noi Station to Tu Son Station (Bac Ninh), with two scheduled departures daily: morning from 8:00 to 11:30 and afternoon from 13:30 to 17:00.
The train consists of five double-decker carriages and two carriages designed for check-in, styled after the five historic gates of Thang Long. With elegant interiors, each carriage seats 40 - 60 passengers, and windows are maximised to allow travellers to enjoy the scenery along the way. On board, passengers are offered seasonal snacks and introduced to the history and culture of the region.
Ticket prices range from 550,000 VND to 750,000 VND per person. Children under six travel free if sharing a seat with an adult; those aged six to ten receive a 15% discount; and children over ten are charged the adult fare.
Ha Noi Station staff, attendants and performing artists welcomed the passengers joining the experience.
Snacks were carefully prepared by staff before boarding. The operator advises passengers to bring their ID card or passport matching their e-ticket information for QR code scanning and check-in before departure. Families of several generations took commemorative photos before the journey began. Chinese tourists expressed their excitement at the trip and the distinctive culinary flavours of Ha Noi.
Lien and Binh, long-time residents of Ha Noi, shared nostalgic memories as the train passed stretches of the familiar Red River. Artists performed cheo and quan ho folk songs, offering passengers a rich cultural encounter steeped in tradition. The train rolled past Ha Noi’s many “small alleys and streets”, laden with memories of the capital. Tourists visited Do Temple (Bac Ninh), a temple dedicated to eight kings of the Ly dynasty. They also enjoyed cultural exchanges with folk singers from Bac Ninh
A group of visitors from Ho Chi Minh City, who had missed the chance to travel to Ha Noi during National Day, said this journey by tourist train nonetheless gave them unforgettable experiences. Tan, representing the group, wrote down his reflections on the trip.
