Photo exhibition marks 60th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory

Nhan Dan Online - A photo exhibition entitled 'Dien Bien - Glorious History' opened at May 7 Square in Dien Bien province on May 1, attracting a crowd of locals and visitors.

The exhibition features 210 photos that depict the process of fighting, construction and development of the Dien Bien armed forces and people over time, as well as the land and people of Dien Bien during the war and their achievements in the renewal process.

The highlight of the exhibition is a series of photos on the Dien Bien Phu Campaign collected from different sources. The photos will provide visitors with an overall picture of the campaign from different perspectives.

Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Pham Van Hung said that the exhibition is one of several social and cultural activities planned to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory. The events are intended to educate the younger generation on national pride and patriotism and encourage the people to promote the glorious tradition of contributing to the cause of national construction and defence.

On the occasion, the Vietnam Science History Association brought the exhibition another a 103-photo collection called 'Halo of Commander in Chief Vo Nguyen Giap' to give viewers information about the life and career of General Giap and the forces who contributed to the historic victory at Dien Bien Phu.

The exhibition is open until May 8.
