Tuyen Quang strives to develop processing and supporting industrial projects

Tuyen Quang Province is striving to become a satellite region of the electronics production chain, supporting industry, automobile manufacturing and assembly industry to develop a high-tech manufacturing industry. In order to achieve this goal, the province has developed industry in a concentrated direction, suitable to the advantages of each region.

Specifically, the southern area of the province and Tuyen Quang City have prioritised the development of the following industries: wood processing, paper, electronics, supporting industry, deep processing of minerals, construction materials, beverage processing, and pharmaceuticals.

The northern area of the province has prioritised the development of the following industries: textiles, footwear, agricultural, forestry and fishery processing, food processing, medicinal materials, etc.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Tuyen Quang, there are 99 investment projects in the processing and manufacturing industry in the province.

Of these, 15 projects are in agricultural product processing, 25 in forestry product processing, 28 in construction material production, 15 in mineral processing and nine in textiles, footwear and leather.

Supporting industries have also received attention from investors with many important projects, such as the Future of Sound VINA headphone manufacturing and processing factory project, which has come into operation and the K-Electronic II electronic component manufacturing and assembly factory, which is currently in the process of project investment. In addition, there are factories producing packaging and canvas.

The completed projects put into operation have contributed to increasing the value of industrial production (according to 2010 comparative prices) from 13.83 trillion VND in 2020 to more than 20.45 trillion VND in 2023, estimated in 2024, the value of industrial production will reach more than 23.73 trillion VND, an increase of 71.6% compared to 2020; striving for the value of industrial production by the end of 2025 to reach more than 27.7 trillion VND, an average increase of 5 years (2021-2025) of more than 14.9%, completing the target set by Resolution No.17 of the Provincial Party Committee.

The planning of Tuyen Quang Province for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, identified the general goal by 2030 that Tuyen Quang will be a fairly developed, comprehensive, inclusive and sustainable province in the midland and mountainous region of the North.

The economy will develop greenly, dynamically, rapidly and sustainably, promoting the application of science, technology and innovation to improve productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness.

Specifically, in terms of industry, it will develop according to the circular economic model, green growth, high-tech application, environmental friendliness, creating high-value and high-quality products, focusing on developing Tuyen Quang to become a satellite of the region in the electronics production chain, supporting industry, automobile manufacturing and assembly industry; developing high-tech manufacturing industry in Tuyen Quang City and Yen Son District; Developing deep processing industries of minerals, textiles, footwear, agricultural products, and supporting industries concentrated in Son Duong District; processing industries of agricultural products, food, medicinal materials, wood, and forestry products in Ham Yen and Chiem Hoa districts; developing hydropower and renewable energy in potential areas in the area; focusing on developing industrial parks and industrial clusters, focusing on attracting investment in processing and manufacturing projects.

According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Duong District, Giang Tuan Anh, the district has attracted many outstanding investment projects. Currently, there is one industrial park in the district, two industrial clusters and several industrial projects operating in the district, in addition to industrial parks and clusters such as An Hoa paper mill, leather shoe factory, tea processing factory, plywood processing factory, and brick factory.

More than 70 enterprises operate in the industrial sector with products like paper pulp, printing paper, barite powder, headphones, leather shoes, garments, and packaging, 240 small-scale handicraft production establishments have registered for business, and more than 2,000 households produce small-scale handicrafts.

Eight tea craft villages have supported the development of the district's industry, and enterprises have created stable jobs for more than 15,000 workers, with an average income of 6.5 million VND/person/month.

Tuyen Quang Province has also strived to have an industrial production value (at 2010 comparative prices) of over 27.7 trillion VND by 2025, with the proportion of industry in the province's GRDP reaching 23.92%. To achieve the above target, Tuyen Quang is continuing to attract investment in the industrial sector, especially processing and supporting industries.

Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Industry and Trade, Nguyen Trung Kien, said that the locality has a lot of room to attract and develop industrial projects, especially processing and supporting industries. Such as abundant and stable raw materials, a labour force that meets the needs of businesses and transport infrastructure, industry is increasingly being improved and synchronised.

To accelerate industrial development and contribute to economic development in the area, Tuyen Quang Province focuses on developing industries with potential and advantages to increase production value and export value, contributing to accelerating economic growth, making greater contributions to the budget, and creating jobs for local workers.

In particular, in 2024 and the following years, the industry and trade sector will maintain the scale and capacity of production and processing projects, especially implementing and having practical and timely support policies for agricultural, forestry and fishery processing industry projects.

At the same time, it will continue to urge to accelerate the progress, complete and put into production according to the registered time for industrial processing production projects with investment policies, focusing on key projects such as expanding the An Hoa pulp and paper factory, expanding the Tuyen Quang iron and steel factory, and the Tuyen Quang zinc smelting factory.

Resolutely handle projects that are not implemented, are slow to implement, and do not comply with regulations; focus on developing processing industries, especially the agricultural and forestry processing industry, investing in building high-tech wood processing factories associated with linking raw material areas with neighbouring provinces.

Prioritising the development of supporting industries to serve key industries to increase production value and for processing and supporting industries to participate more deeply in the global production network and value chain, the industry and trade sector focuses on promoting support for enterprises to apply scientific advances, innovate technology, promote industry, encourage the use of advanced technology, clean technology, green technology that is friendly to the environment in industrial production facilities for processing agricultural and forestry products and supporting industries, mechanics, and electronics.
