The exhibition attracted 56 artists with 71 artworks. All participating artists are alumni of the Department of Art Education. Each artist contributes a unique emotional tone, reflecting their personal style and perspective on life and art. While it cannot fully represent all generations, it features prominent representatives from various cohorts within the department.
Over its century-long journey (1925–2025), the Viet Nam University of Fine Arts has proudly served as the cradle for generations of painters, sculptors, researchers, and art critics—outstanding individuals who have helped shape and elevate modern Vietnamese fine arts.

Originating from the Indochina School of Fine Arts (1925–1945), the school was built upon Western pedagogical models, fostering artistic thinking and unlocking the creative potential of the first generation of Vietnamese artists, helping them become masters of painting and sculpture.
In the post-1945 period, the harships of the resistance war, the school continued to assert its pioneering role in art education, training many talented artists, significantly contributing to the struggle for national independence and unification.
Painter Chu Anh Phuong, Head of the Department of Art Education, expressed his pride and gratitude for studying and growing up at a school with a rich tradition — the Indochina School of Fine Arts, now the Viet Nam University of Fine Arts — the cradle that has created many talented painters, sculptors, and art critics, representing the country's fine arts.
The exhibition is a heartfelt expression of grattitue, a natural and proud continuation of the flame of passion and creativity. It looks back to the roots, where powerful emotions first emerged to inspire works of art imbued with love for life and art.
It also looks ahead to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Viet Nam University of Fine Arts, contributing to affirming the role, position and quality of a leading prestigious fine arts training centre of the whole country, making an important contribution to the artistic life of Viet Nam.
The event also highlights the strong bond among generations of artists—those who have left the classroom but continue to carry within them the fire of passion and an unrelenting spirit of learning. It clearly reflects the role of an artistic educational environment that not only imparts professional knowledge but also nurtures creative thinking, personal integrity, and community awareness in every learner.
The exhibition runs until August 10.
