Nhan Dan – An awards ceremony for the festival of photographs, documentaries and TV reportage featuring ASEAN nations was held yesterday at the Au Co Arts Centre in Hanoi.

First prize in the photography category went to Zaw Tun from Myanmar for the picture entitled ‘Working at a Farm.’ ‘Chronicle of the Mekong River,’ a documentary by a group of reporters from Ho Chi Minh City Television Studios, earned the first prize for a documentary and the winner of the TV reportage catetgory was ‘An Ordinary Needle’ by Anderson Ee from Malaysia.

14 prizes for photos and 22 prizes for documentaries and TV reportages were also presented at the ceremony.

The contest was launched in May, 2010 by the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnam News Agency and Vietnam Television. It received nearly 600 photographs and sets of photos, approximately 70 filmed documentaries and over 100 TV reportages. The event aimed to promote the land, people and culture of all countries belonging to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and enhance solidarity, co-operation and mutual understanding among them.
