Organised by the Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam Culture and Science Centre in collaboration with Ha Noi Grapevine, the festival aims to celebrate and revitalise traditional cultural heritage in a modern context.
The event serves as the opening of the “Weaving heritage – Crafting creativity” programme, offering a vibrant platform where tradition meets innovation.
It brings together prominent artisans, cultural groups, and creative communities, showcasing traditional Vietnamese handicrafts such as La Khe silk, handmade paper lamps, and dó paper paintings.
A wide range of interactive workshops will cater to all ages, including activities like bamboo dragonfly and mask decoration (Cool Viet Nam), dó paper folk painting (Magic of Colour), lacquer art experiments (Lamphong Studio), woodblock printmaking (Hong Xiem Class), traditional Vietnamese costume styling, mosaic tile art (Qmosaic), and more.
In addition to hands-on experiences and craft stalls, visitors will be treated to performances of traditional music, including Xam (an ancient folk artform performed by blind beggars), ca tru (ceremonial singing), and the H’Mong ethnic people’s bamboo flute, creating a festive atmosphere that celebrates the harmony between heritage and contemporary life.
Held in Ho Van — an integral part of the historic Temple of Literature complex — the festival is free and open to the public, designed as an inclusive and dynamic space for cultural exploration.
“Growing up with tradition” promises to be a colourful and enriching celebration for children, fostering national pride and encouraging a deeper appreciation and preservation of Vietnamese heritage.
