Thai Nguyen hosts national cultural festival of Dao ethnic minority group

The second National Cultural Festival of the Dao ethnic minority group officially opened in the northern province of Thai Nguyen on October 6.

The three-day festival, themed “Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the Dao ethnic minority group - Equality, solidarity, integration and development”, will feature a range of attractive activities.

Speaking at the festival’s opening ceremony, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Do Van Chien said the culture of an ethnic minority group is a valuable heritagecontributing to the richness, diversity and unity of Vietnamese culture.

The culture of Dao ethnic minority was crystallised from the daily life and production over hundreds of years, he added.

Chien also praised the artisans, artists, actors, actresses and athletes of ethnic minority groups, especially Dao people across the country, for their participation in the festival to meet, exchange and show their talents and creativity, thus contributing to preserving and promoting the beautiful cultural identities of ethnic minority groups.

At the opening ceremony, more than 1,000 artists, actors, actresses and athletes from the Dao ethnic minority group performed a three-chapter art programme themed “Dream of Sun”.

The performances highlighted the beauty of the Dao people as well as their heroic traditions in the cause of nation construction and protection.
