Vinh Long Province announces adjusted plan to 2030 with vision to 2050

The Vinh Long Provincial People’s Committee held a conference on March 20 to announce adjustments of the provincial plan for the 2021–2030 period, with a vision to 2050.

This marks an important milestone for Vinh Long to review, unify and enter a new phase of development. Tran Van Lau, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee, chaired the conference.

At the conference, provincial leaders announced the decision to adjust the Vinh Long provincial plan for the 2021–2030 period, with a vision to 2050. The plan is aligned with the national socio-economic development strategy and consistent with the national master plan, national sectoral plans, the Mekong Delta regional plan and other relevant plans.

Accordingly, the province will focus on developing key sectors and priority areas, concentrating resources on industries and spaces with the potential to create breakthroughs, forming growth poles and driving regions that play a leading role and spread development momentum for the economy of the province.

By 2030, Vinh Long aims to become a dynamic and sustainable locality, a centre for the marine economy and renewable energy production in the region, with a synchronised and modern infrastructure system and seamless connectivity with other localities in the region.

At the same time, the province will mobilise and utilise all resources effectively for rapid and sustainable development, maximising advantages in the marine economy, ecological agriculture, renewable energy, logistics services and marine, cultural and eco-tourism.

By 2050, Vinh Long is expected to become a dynamic, modern and sustainable province, a centre for the marine economy, renewable energy and innovation of the region. Its economy will develop comprehensively along green, digital and circular directions, associated with a system of smart, ecological urban areas and a unified, efficient development space, closely linked to regional and national economic corridors.

According to the plan, Vinh Long Province will have three economic zones: the North Co Chien River zone, the South Co Chien River zone and the coastal zone. There will also be five economic corridors, including the north–south corridor, the east–west corridor, the intra-provincial corridor along National Highways QL53– QL54– QL57, the Co Chien-Ham Luong riverside economic corridor, Tien River and Hau River eco-tourism corridor, and coastal areas.

The event was also an opportunity for Vinh Long Province to introduce and promote its potential, advantages, development orientations and a list of priority investment projects. This is expected to attract major resources, modern technologies and advanced management methods from both domestic and foreign investors, thereby contributing to promoting double-digit economic growth, economic restructuring and improving the competitiveness of the province.
