Ambassador Pham Xuan Son, said that the diary is a memoir of doctor and soldier Tram who sacrificed herself for national unification when fighting off foreign invaders.

Mr. Son said he hopes that the publication will help connect the literary communities of both countries, which will help increase mutual understanding and reinforce the traditional friendship between both nations.

Russian people attending the ceremony said that it gave them a better insight into the Vietnamese people’s optimism and belief in victory.

Over 3,500 copies of the edition were offered as gifts to the Russian public and so far the diary has been translated into 18 languages.
