According to reports presented at the conference, in April 2026, the customs sector focused on implementing key tasks in line with work plans and programmes of the year; strengthening state management in customs operations; facilitating trade; improving the efficiency of customs inspection, supervision, and control; and proactively combating smuggling, trade fraud, and illegal cross-border transportation of goods.

Import-export activities continued to maintain positive growth momentum. In April 2026, total import-export turnover reached 95.97 billion USD, up 2.4% from the previous month, equivalent to an increase of 2.22 billion USD.

Of the total, exports were valued at 45.99 billion USD, down 1.3%, or 586 million USD, compared with the previous month, while imports reached 49.98 billion USD, up 5.9%, or 2.8 billion USD.

In the first four months of 2026, total import-export turnover reached 345.68 billion USD, up 24.7% year on year, equivalent to an increase of 68.47 billion USD.

Specifically, exports totalled 169.02 billion USD, up 20.1%, or 28.26 billion USD, compared with the same period in 2025, while imports reached 176.66 billion USD, up 29.5%, or 40.21 billion USD.

According to the Viet Nam Customs Department, the strong growth in import-export activities reflected a clear recovery in production and business demand, thereby creating an important foundation for trade growth and the fulfilment of fiscal targets for 2026.

Alongside trade growth, state budget revenue from import-export activities also recorded positive results.

In April alone, state budget revenue reached 46.974 trillion VND, up 1.8%, equivalent to an increase of 831 billion VND compared with the previous month.

As of April 30, total state budget revenue from import-export activities has reached 166.301 trillion VND, fulfilling 36.9% of the assigned estimate of 451 trillion VND, equivalent to 32.2% of the target of 516.5 trillion VND, and increasing 16.5%, or 23.563 trillion VND, compared with the same period in 2025.
