The joy and excitement were clearly visible on the face of Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, a second-year student at the Academy of Journalism and Communication, as she held in her hands the special edition marking the 100th anniversary of the Viet Nam Revolutionary Press.

She shared that over time, she has followed many of Nhan Dan’s special publications, from the 2024 panorama on the “Dien Bien Phu Campaign” to the special supplements marking the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (30 April) and the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday (May 19) in 2025. So, upon hearing about the latest edition, she and her friends came early to the festival.

"Nhan Dan Newspaper is my role model. Today, holding this special edition in my hands brings me so much joy. The content is undoubtedly compelling as each article is moving and inspiring, sparking immense pride in me. What stands out the most is the layout. The visuals are as vivid as a comic book, making it an engaging experience and encouraging us to read and absorb the information,” Huong shared enthusiastically.

At Nhan Dan’s booth, Nguyen Thi Hong Ngoc and her friend were deeply engrossed in reading “Milestones and Trends”. As media and journalism students from the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam, they found the special edition to be a valuable learning resource.

Hong Ngoc remarked: “It is truly amazing. This compact, charming publication is a treasure. I feel like I am holding the entire history of the Viet Nam Revolutionary Press. Even after a quick read, I found it very accessible and easy to read, understand, and remember. For our major, this is an incredibly useful visual learning tool.”

Recent special editions by Nhan Dan Newspaper have developed a remarkable appeal among younger audiences.

The special edition on 21 June 2025 introduced at this year’s festival is not just a newspaper, but it is a heartfelt tribute and remembrance, a repository of memories and reflection, a quiet yet profound gesture of respect from journalists toward history and their predecessors.

Each word not only reflects on the past but breathes the air of the present and contemplates the evolving, challenging flow of the future.

The newspaper holds the stature of a commemorative work, a historical summary, a tribute to the past, and, at the same time, a professional manifesto for the future.

Despite its profound historical and contemporary significance, the edition is neither dry nor overly academic, thanks largely to the dedicated team of illustrators, designers, and layout editors, who made the publication feel accessible and relatable to readers.

Journalist and illustrator Khieu Minh from Nhan Dan Newspaper shared that one of the greatest challenges was balancing nostalgia with freshness to ensure that the edition did not come across as archival but rather vibrant and inspiring to today’s generation. The design team experimented with various layouts and colour schemes and consulted veteran journalists and press historians to ensure factual accuracy in presenting materials.

Speaking on behalf of the team behind the special edition, Khieu Minh added that the project’s success came from close collaboration, regular feedback from the editorial board and young readers, and strong coordination among departments. This synergy resulted in a publication rich in historical depth yet brimming with contemporary vitality.

Visitors to Nhan Dan’s booth at the 2025 National Press Festival had the chance to experience the newspaper’s spirit of innovation, through which each product is infused with a deep sense of love, ethics, and professional responsibility. Above all, Nhan Dan Newspaper always listens to its readers and remains committed to serving the people.
