Triet is currently an informatics major. He began pursuing and studying artificial intelligence after completing the national excellent student contest in grade 11.
This result is not only a source of pride for the school, but also proof of the intelligence and careful preparation of Da Nang’s talented generation of students in the international arena.
APOAI was held for the first time, hosted by China, on June 13, 2026, in an online format, lasting six hours with four problems.
The competition saw the participation of 129 contestants from 18 countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific region. The organisers awarded 10 gold medals, 22 silver medals, 32 bronze medals, and 37 certificates of merit to contestants. Phan Dinh Triet performed excellently to win the only gold medal for the Vietnamese student delegation at the competition.
Teacher Le Thanh Hai, Principal of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted in Da Nang City, proudly stated that Phan Dinh Triet’s academic achievement, with the gold medal he has just won at APOAI, marks another stage of efforts by teachers and students of the school in improving the quality of teaching and learning and continuing to conquer international intellectual arenas.
According to Le Thanh Hai, before reaching the top at APOAI, Phan Dinh Triet had already affirmed his capacity through prestigious competitions, having claimed second prize at the National Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence in 2025 and third prize in the national excellent student contest in informatics in 2026.
Speaking about his journey to conquering the gold medal at APOAI, Phan Dinh Triet said that from his achievement in the national excellent student contest, he began spending more time learning about artificial intelligence.
“I made use of the break from my major subject to study artificial intelligence knowledge online. Studying informatics as a major is truly an important foundation for me to keep learning and consolidating core knowledge about artificial intelligence,” Triet said.
Triet is one of the eight members of the Vietnamese team participating in APOAI. The competition is designed to promote education in artificial intelligence and identify talented students through high-quality assessments that meet international standards.
