Winners of writing contest on Vietnam – Laos friendship honoured

A ceremony was held in Hanoi on December 13 to honour individuals with outstanding writings highlighting the long-standing friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

The contest was launched by the Vietnam Times and the agency of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations in collaboration with Lao Embassy in Vietnam, the Vietnam – Laos Friendship Association and the Laos – Vietnam Friendship Association.

Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Sengphet Houngboungnuang said the contest has attracted large numbers of participants from both countries, reaffirming the deep affection between the two nations.

The writings feature rich content, diverse forms and many touching stories, contributing to nurturing and fostering he friendship between the two peoples.

The contest was considered a forum to review the arduous and heroic years of the Vietnamese and Laos peoples, who have shared both difficulties and achievements in fighting, labour and study.

The organising board received 6,215 entries by 48 units, dozens of localities and thousands of writers from Laos and Vietnam.

At the award ceremony, two first, four second, seven third and ten consolation prizes were presented to the most outstanding writers. In addition, five “impressive” awards were presented.
